Infinity Offices

So, the host provider did an emergency update and reboot on all their servers (Thanks Spectre/Meltdown). That took the server down earlier for a bit and ever since it's been back up, it's been a little laggy (which is also causing the counter to suck). Everything seems to be set up to run properly on my end. Hopefully, the provider will sort itself out over the course of the next day or so.

Here with ornate chairs set around a large circular wooden table, the Mages of the Infinity Chantry discuss the affairs of Magic.

Holden (Glassbone bani Verditius): There's a long silence while Holden glowers. "You know how old I am? I'm damn near seventy now. But I feel and look the exact same as I did when I left Infinity. Hell, maybe even a bit younger. It's because I ran into one of them. She said she was a noble of some high court. Nice at first. They always are. But I ended up being some sort of pet for more years than I can even remember. I was gutted, over and over again. Like some sort of battery she could plug into."

: ((gah, now I timed out making coffee. BRB))

Holden (Glassbone bani Verditius): ((no worries, I have you tube to keep me occupied))

Jarrod of Usher (Whisper in the Chaos): *he hangs on Holden's every word taking it in, with heavy consideration. He asks softly* Was this from Woodstock?

Holden (Glassbone bani Verditius): "What?" he blinks, "What the hell are you talking about? I've never been to Woodstock? He looks genuinely offended. "What kind of game are you playing at?"

Jarrod of Usher (Whisper in the Chaos): *His shouldrs hunch* I don't know. You tell me.Luke came to me concerned because he said he had talked to you and brought up your age. Something was mentioned about Woodstock and you changed the subject on him talking about these Fae Folk instead. Warning him about the parasites. He came to me scared because I had described something similar to him as a warning when I was stuck here in the Chantry. I believed there were spirits of these things out to get me. I was not entirely attached to my wits at the time. I had spent years in some realm of the Umbra before then and my faculties were not entirely recovered. I'm trying to determine if we are talking about the same sorts of Entities or if there was a connection to Woodstock. If not... *he waves a hand dismissively* Serves me right for getting second hand information and misunderstanding.

Holden (Glassbone bani Verditius): He grunts, "I grew up during the era, but I fought in the war." He shrugs and then reflect. "Suppose there's some similarities. On the surface it looks like a big happy party. But it wasn't. It was a loud confusing nightmare. Anyhow, I'm done talking about this. I don't like thinking about it. He answers to every Council Rep, and he tells Rayne the truth." Thinking it over, "You know we caught a serious break that there are so few women in the Chantry. That kid would have sailed the skin boat into tuna town every chance he got."

Jarrod of Usher (Whisper in the Chaos): *he rubs his face over* My apologies for bringing up Woodstock then. There was a misunderstanding for certain in that regard. I'd still like to know how you were... Taken I suppose is the word, by the one you learned all of this from. The information about these... Fair Folk... is it Fair folk to you or Fae Folk? Which term is the right one? I'm still trying to untangle this situation so I understand it all. I don't wish to come off as doubting you or your word and experiences. I simply want to make sure I have it all accurate and understood.

Holden (Glassbone bani Verditius): "I wasn't taken by force if that's what you're wondering. That's not how they operate to my knowledge. Just... a friendly invitation. Me not knowing any better I just went along. But once I was there I was stuck." There was a shake of his head. "Is this the part where you tell me that I'm making a big deal outta nothing? Cuz it is a big deal."

Jarrod of Usher (Whisper in the Chaos): No... No I'm not going to belittle your concern. I do want to understand the context of your experience. And if you were forced or tricked, it would color this information as to the level of threat these beings present. *he leans forward intently, elbows on his knees watching Holden* You said you were... used... like a battery. By this one person. She was the one who invited you? And oncee you were there, and trapped, she didn't want to release you?

Holden (Glassbone bani Verditius): "Kept like a pet." He says flatly. "And yeah, she was the one. Ruled over the whole court. I remember... guards with animal heads on human bodies. Albino creatures climbing out of the walls who just sat and stared at me. Not sayin' a word. Other things too... but ultimately I wasn't theirs to mess with."

Jarrod of Usher (Whisper in the Chaos): Ahh... My sympathies. *he nods and does look sincerely sympathetic* I was once similarly enslaved by Vampires. Though I felt perfectly at home and believed everything my Master told me, it was only the Blood making me loyal to them. Not a real love for their kind. I understand if you felt compelled to give them what they wanted, these Parasites you speak of. You didn't have a choice. The feeling of betrayal once you learn the truth is profound and cuts deep.I know I felt that way once the veil of deception was lifted from my eyes. However did you escape?

Holden (Glassbone bani Verditius): "I don't remember. All I remember is that she was furious and... I don't know." He rises to his feet. "Alright, seriously now. I'm done talking about this. Don't care what you or anyone else thinks. This isn't about me. This is about the Chantry. That kid forfeited his right to secrecy when he decided to live here. We have our own secrets to protect."

Jarrod of Usher (Whisper in the Chaos): *his brows furrow* What? I'm not sure I understand. what does this have to do with Luke? Are you saying he's one of those that enslaved you?

Holden (Glassbone bani Verditius): "No, of course not." He says giving Jarrod a look. "I'm saying this whole time we've been talking about me. And not about our... Custos," He practically spits the word out.

Jarrod of Usher (Whisper in the Chaos): I asked, so that I could understand what you know and you have told me everything that you could. Thank you. If your experience with these beings tells you Luke is one of them and that he's a threat, I have to take that on your word and experience. I personally have not felt any threat from him or the powers he seems to possess. Yes, I have noticed he seems very talented with his voice and it can invoke moods. But Nick already scolded him when he was not in the mood to listen to him sing love songs from Elvis. Since then Luke has hardly sung or played any music around the Chantry, out of respect for our rules. If he's breaking them, I need to know. I haven't been here as much as I ought and that's my fault if I missed something that's been going on here. I want to protect this Chantry. I interrogated Luke myself with the Ring of Truth not long after they arrived. They both gave me their word that they would protect this place, as we do and not to harm anyone else within these walls. If he's broken that, I need to know.

Jarrod of Usher (Whisper in the Chaos): ((bah, redundancy bane of redundancy))

Holden (Glassbone bani Verditius): "So you knew?" He says turning to square his shoulders to Jarrod. "You already knew what he was?"

Jarrod of Usher (Whisper in the Chaos): I know he's Spirit Ridden. I've seen Spirit Ridden people before. *still looking concerned, puzzled though now perhaps debating if he needs to be defensive now too*

Jarrod of Usher (Whisper in the Chaos): ((PAUSING FOR FOOD. Will Pick up at a later time))

This proud Victorian-style manor stands in the city's residential area. No one knows it's exact location as the manor seems to find those it deems worthy of entry rather than the other way around. Past the wrought metal gates a stone path threads its way up to the wooden porch and the house's main door. A sign reads "Infinity Club: Members Only". On the gate itself, a "Wet Paint" sign "coincidentally" turns aside those with only casual interest in the structure. Stepping inside brings one into the mansion's entry hall, which has been converted into a small club. A scattering of tables, chairs and couches offer places to relax and talk, while a well-stocked bar, a jukebox and a dartboard offer other distractions. Beyond them all a number of warded doorways and staircases lead deeper into the manor proper. (Tradition Magi and Allies only)
